Two kinds of room, two rules
TFSA
For a Canadian resident, room starts to accumulate when you turn 18. Money you take out comes back as room on January 1 of the following year.

New room is 18% of last year's earned income, to a yearly dollar maximum: $32,490 for 2025 and $33,810 for 2026.

Money you take out of a TFSA comes back as room on January 1 of the following year, along with that year's new limit. It is the first rule we go through.
